Located about 20 miles northwest of Libby, Montana, the Flatiron Mountain Trail is perfect for the true mountain adventurer. While relatively short, some sections are quite steep. In Kootenai Country Montana, we say the shortest distance between two points is a straight line—unless you’re going straight up! True to its name, the summit is a flat iron peak with a mix of gentle and steep grades.
Cross-country skiers have been known to attempt daring stunts from the summit, only to end up buried in deep snow, popping up like white weasels to the laughter of friends. Remember, it’s always crucial to check avalanche conditions before heading out.
